Certified Public Accountant

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an expert in a variety of topics, including financial reporting, taxes, financial statement auditing, and business law. A California CPA license is administered by the California Board of Accountancy. The licensee must meet continuing education requirements every two years to renew their license.

First Aid/CPR/AED

First aid/CPR/AED is a certification for the proper administration of basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and an automated external defibrillator (AED). The certification involves hands-on drills in order to learn the proper form and procedure for providing aid in an emergency until trained paramedics arrive on scene. It is administered by the American Red Cross. Recertification is required every two years.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support (BLS) involves a more advanced first aid program for a first responder who is familiar with basic first aid/CPR/AED training concepts, but wishes to supplement their knowledge with a more comprehensive, in-depth, and scenario-based training curriculum. It is administered by the American Red Cross. Recertification is required every two years.

Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid is a program which covers a variety of first aid topics with a focus on medical emergency situations which may arise in remote areas where professional help is unavailable. The program is a two-day workshop and features many hands-on simulations. The program is administered by the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Recertification is required every two years.

CERT Disaster Service Worker

Community Emergency Response Team ("CERT") is a nationally supported and locally implemented initiative that teaches citizens how to better prepare for disasters with skills such as team organization, disaster medical operations, patient triage, fire safety, and light search and rescue. The program is administered by local sponsoring organizations, such as local fire departments. The CERT training program is a FEMA-certified course consisting of in-person lectures, online coursework, and hands-on training simulations. Continuing education is required every five years to renew the certification as an active Disaster Services Worker ("DSW").
